i have a laptop charger for my compaq laptop but my cat chewed on the end so now it’s broken. I really need help. I found another charger in my house, it’s a 12V (volt) and i would really like to know if it would work. Thanks to all

Using the wrong voltage, amperage, wattage charger can burn out the mother board on the lap top. Use only a charger that has the correct voltage, wattage, amperage for your lap top.
